The Microsoft Foundry extension for Visual Studio Code reaches general availability with a Build 2026 refresh that brings the full model catalog, model playground, and Hosted agent deployment into the editor. Developers can sign in with their Azure account, create or open a Foundry project, browse over 1,900 models with filters for publisher and capability, and deploy a model into the project without leaving VS Code. The extension also generates starter code for Python, .NET, JavaScript, or Java in the SDK and authentication style the developer prefers. For Hosted agents, the extension supports both local development and one-click deploy to Foundry Agent Service, with side-by-side model and agent playgrounds for fast iteration.
