Public Preview: Introducing AI Assistant in the Azure Cosmos DB extension for Visual Studio Code

You can now use AI assistance in the Azure Cosmos DB extension for Visual Studio Code to work with your data faster and with less manual effort. You can ask questions in plain English and get optimized Azure Cosmos DB queries, use chat participant commands to explain and refine queries, and rely on intelligent auto completion while writing queries and code.

You also get an Azure Cosmos DB Shell experience powered by Model Context Protocol (MCP), so the agent can use Shell operations to navigate your databases and containers and execute the right queries for you. You can spend less time on syntax, reduce trial-and-error, and move from idea to insight more quickly. Whether you are exploring data, troubleshooting queries, or building application logic, you get a more guided and productive development experience directly in Visual Studio Code.
