Amazon ElastiCache upgrades now complete up to 41% faster with up to 29% lower P99 latencies during customer-triggered node type and engine version changes. Keeping your clusters current is important to ensure they have the latest enhancements in security, features, and performance. Faster cluster upgrades makes it easier and safer to keep your clusters up to date, minimize your infrastructure costs, and leave your applications running smoothly.

Through optimized parallel synchronization of primary and replica nodes, upgrades finish faster while maintaining more consistent application performance. Improvements to health monitoring and progress checkpoints reduce P99 latencies during upgrades. These improvements apply automatically and require no changes to how you initiate or manage upgrades.
