Support for Kubernetes version 1.37.0 in a preview release of Kubernetes Engine
A preview release of OCI Kubernetes Engine now provides support for Kubernetes version 1.37.0 for early access testing and validation purposes.
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for GPU host repair
You can now use OKE to coordinate the repair of eligible managed bare metal GPU worker nodes in response to specified hardware-related conditions.
Support for Kubernetes version 1.36.4
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) now supports Kubernetes version 1.36.4, in addition to versions 1.35.2 and 1.34.10. With the availability of support for Kubernetes version 1.36.4, OKE will cease support for Kubernetes version 1.36.1 on November 3, 2026.
VCN-Native Pod Networking CNI plugin version 3.3.1 now available
The OCI VCN-Native Pod Networking CNI plugin for use with Kubernetes Engine (OKE) includes the following new features and functionality in version 3.3.1:
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for virtual nodes using persistent volumes backed by File Storage service
You can now use OKE to set up persistent volumes backed by the File Storage service for virtual nodes (in addition to existing support for File Storage service-backed persistent volumes for managed nodes and self-managed nodes).
Support for Kubernetes version 1.34.10
Container Engine for Kubernetes now supports Kubernetes version 1.34.10, in addition to versions 1.36.1 and 1.35.2.
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for rolling back managed nodes to an earlier Kubernetes version
You can now roll back the version of Kubernetes running on managed nodes in a node pool by specifying an earlier available Kubernetes version for the existing node pool, and then replacing the existing managed nodes.
Updates to OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) cluster add-ons
Updates to OKE cluster add-ons are now available:
Kubernetes Engine support for deploying the AMD GPU Operator cluster add-on
You can now use the AMD GPU Operator add-on to automate the deployment and management of AMD GPU software components.
Kubernetes Engine support for deploying the CSI driver SMB cluster add-on
You can now use the CSI driver SMB add-on to enable cluster workloads to use SMB/CIFS file shares as persistent storage.
Kubernetes Engine support for deploying the Node Feature Discovery cluster add-on
You can now use the Node Feature Discovery add-on to detect hardware features and system configuration on cluster nodes. The Node Feature Discovery add-on advertises those capabilities as Kubernetes node labels.
Kubernetes Engine support for deploying the NVIDIA GPU Operator cluster add-on
You can now use the NVIDIA GPU Operator add-on to automate the management of NVIDIA software components required to provision GPU nodes.
Kubernetes Engine support for deploying the NVIDIA Network Operator cluster add-on
You can now use the NVIDIA Network Operator add-on to automate deployment and configuration of NVIDIA networking components for high-performance networking.
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for 20,000 worker nodes per Kubernetes cluster
You can now use OKE to create enhanced clusters with up to 20,000 managed (or self-managed) nodes per cluster, with Oracle approval. Contact your Oracle account team for approval if you plan to use clusters with more than 5,000 worker nodes.
Support for Kubernetes version 1.36.1
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) now supports Kubernetes version 1.36.1, in addition to versions 1.35.2 and 1.34.2. With the availability of support for Kubernetes version 1.36.1, OKE will cease support for Kubernetes version 1.33.10 on August 10, 2026.
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for on-demand virtual node cycling
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) now supports the on-demand cycling of virtual nodes. Cycling virtual nodes simplifies the updating of node properties.
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for Compute Host Groups and Compute Clusters
Kubernetes Engine now supports the selection of compute host groups as a capacity type for the compute instances hosting worker nodes in node pools in a Kubernetes cluster.
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for Zero Trust Packet Routing
Kubernetes Engine now supports Zero Trust Packet Routing (ZPR) security attributes for selected cluster-related resources.
Annotation to assign a reserved private IPv4 address to a load balancer or network load balancer with OKE
You can now use the oci.oraclecloud.com/reserved-private-ips annotation to assign a reserved private IPv4 address to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure private load balancer or private network load balancer that Kubernetes Engine creates when deploying a Kubernetes service of type…
OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) support for HTTP/2 for managed load balancers
Kubernetes Engine now supports the HTTP/2 listener protocol for OCI load balancers provisioned for Kubernetes services of type LoadBalancer.
